Ventured to Piccadilly Circus to try a touch of Danish brunch at the Danish bakery, Ole & Steen.
Very modern, pretty and understated interior coupled with colourful pastries and an array of different types of freshly baked bread and other lunchy, and quite Danish looking, options.
It’s the kind of place that would also work well as a wine bar, come night. With it’s good coffee and (if the chocolate swirl I chose is anything to go by…) absolutely sensational chocolatey cakey pastry delights, it’s a good Sunday morning treat and good way to mix up the usual avo and poached eggs on toast – although they do serve that at Ole & Steen too!
The chocolate swirl I had was a take on the more traditional cinnamon swirl but with a different type of pastry base to the rest of it. Amazing.
Recommend this Danish bakery for that sweet treat in the form of Danish pastries.
If you’re after something more savoury and lunchy – the goats cheese, beetroot and lentil salad combo is the one; accompanied with a cheeky couple slices of Scandinavian rye. Also makes for some perfect lunch inspo!
…a sneaky glimpse of the bakery and oven can be spotted in the basement, should you want to catch some of the action…
You can’t go to a bakery without tasting some of the bread, so we took a carrot rye and seeded rye to go. Be rude not to sample some Danish bread!
